The Men's Central Jail is the largest jail in the world. Currently, it houses approximately 5,000 inmates. As the title suggests, this is a jail specifically for men. Also within the system is the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. To the eye, this facility appears as two towers connected by a ground level building. The Twin Towers Correctional Facility spans 10 acres of land and provides an impressive 1.5 million square feet of space for its many departments including correctional housing.

The facility is also home to the Medical Services Building that services inmates who need attention with respect to their medical and / or mental health. Inpatient housing is provided for qualified inmates within the Medical Services Building. Inmates requiring more extended health care are transferred to the Los Angeles County Medical Center.
